Administrative Law is an umbrella term which usually is defined as the area of practice that has to do with the administration and/or application of the law by a gouvernmental actor or authority. This can be anything from disagreeing with and contesting the decision of a government agency to forcing the gouvernment to act within it’s powers and only within it’s powers.
Interestingly for pet and animal owners, Animal Law can be a subcategory of administrative law when, for example, a city wants to have your dog evaluated or if it wants to deem your dog as dangerous. Pet owners have rights and there is an established legal process involved through which owners may have recourses available to them to fight back against the city.
